Epiphyte - attach to wood/rock

Anubias nana 'Mini' has quickly become a favourite among aquascaping enthusiasts, and it's easy to see why! This charming aquatic plant stands at just 8-10 cm tall, making it an ideal choice for nano tanks or as a lovely foreground plant in larger aquascapes.

Appearance

Though it's relatively new to the aquarium trade, the Mini Anubias boasts unique characteristics that set it apart. While it’s often said to be smaller than Anubias barteri var. nana 'Petite' (commonly known as 'Bonsai'), we have found that this isn't always the case. The Mini features delicate, tapered leaves that reach about 4 cm in length, so it still holds its own as a compact alternative to regular Anubias barteri var. nana.

Visually, it resembles another popular variant known as "Paxing," but with slightly broader leaves that add to its charm. With its stunning looks and manageable size, Anubias nana 'Mini' is perfect for any aquascpae.

Featuring thick, dark green leaves with a broad, oval shape, Anubias nana 'Mini' adds a lush, dense texture to your underwater landscape, enhancing the overall aesthetic of your aquarium design. Its slow growth rate simplifies maintenance, as it requires less frequent trimming compared to faster-growing aquatic plants.

Lighting

When it comes to lighting, Anubias nana 'Mini' thrives in low to moderate conditions. Excessive light can promote algae growth on its leaves, it does well in shaded areas or shadowed by larger plants.

Planting

For optimal health, this hardy plant should be attached to rocks or driftwood, as its rhizome must not be buried in substrate. Anubias nana 'Mini' is adaptable and can flourish in a range of water parameters, although it prefers a pH between 6.5 and 7.5 and temperatures ranging from 72°F to 82°F (22°C to 28°C).

Fertilising

In terms of nutrition, Anubias nana 'Mini' benefits from liquid fertilisers but will manage even in low-nutrient environments, making it an excellent option for low-tech aquarium setups. Its resilience allows it to coexist harmoniously with a variety of fish and invertebrate species, although care should be taken not to position it in areas where fish might disturb or uproot it.
