The History of the Solar RGB

Nearly nine years ago, ADA launched the revolutionary Solar RGB, a sleek and modern pendant light designed specifically for aquarium plants. Its primary focus on colour reproduction enhances the brightness and vividness of aquarium plants. 

This sophisticated lighting unit quickly became iconic within the aquascaping hobby, as its design seamlessly incorporates functionality with aesthetics. Since then, it has gained a reputation as one of the most sought-after lights in the aquascaping community.

ADA has announced the release of the new SOLAR RGD II (2), which is expected to arrive in the UK in 2025. What can we anticipate from this new lighting unit, and how has a top-tier product improved even further?

What's New with the SOLAR RGB II from ADA?

As seen on the newer ADA Aquasky, the Solar RGB II comes with App control, allowing you to take full control of the RGB II such as dimming and timer settings.

The new Group SYNC feature allows for the simultaneous control of several Solar RGB II units, making it ideal for expansive aquarium setups. These new features are only available when using the Solar RGB II in conjunction with the app.

The new grouping function allows for simultaneous dimming, colour tuning, and timer settings across multiple units in large aquariums.

The original Solar had an illuminance rating of approximately 21,000 lux, while the Solar RGB II features an illuminance of 31,000 lux ±10% (measured at a 30 cm distance). This makes the Solar RGB II brighter and more powerful than its predecessor, and it includes 10 additional LEDs.

The unit keeps its signature look and design as well as size, one Solar RGB II unit is designed for use up to W90cm aquarium.
