Aquarium Hardscape Glue

Aquarium hardscape glue is a specialised liquid adhesive specifically designed to bond materials such as wood and rocks in aquariums. The glue creates a chemical reaction when applied to materials like tissue or cotton, which is used to connect the hardscape together, resulting in a smoking effect during the application process. Once the smoking stops, the tissue hardens, effectively securing the hardscape components together and prevents the hardscape moving when filled with water.

How to Apply the Liquid Hardscape Glue

1. Ensure a Dry Hardscape: Before applying the glue, make sure your hardscape components are completely dry. This will prevent any moisture from interfering with the bonding process.
2. Position the Hardscape: Securely place your hardscape components in the aquarium, ensuring they are stable and won't move during the gluing process.
3. Apply the Glue: Fold a small amount of tissue or cotton tightly between the hardscape components, creating a thin layer. Drizzle the liquid hardscape glue over the tissue, allowing it to penetrate the material.
4. Wait for the Chemical Reaction: As the glue is applied, a chemical reaction will occur, causing the tissue to start smoking. This is a normal part of the bonding process.
5. Allow the Glue to Set: Once the smoking has stopped, the tissue will harden, securing the hardscape components together.

Best Practices for a Secure Bond

Multiple Glue Points: To ensure maximum security, we recommend creating a minimum of at least 3 glue points between hardscape components. This will provide a backup in case one of the bonds fails over time.

Proper Glue Application: Follow the instructions for applying the liquid hardscape glue carefully, ensuring the tissue is tightly folded and the glue is applied liberally.

The chemical reactions will produce fumes, be careful and make sure you use in a well ventilated space, or wear a face mask.
