ADA Staurogyne repens

Staurogyne repens, originating from South America, is a bushy and compact aquatic plant characterized by its thick, green leaves. This versatile species contributes a rich green hue to the foreground of your aquascape, acting as a stunning backdrop behind shorter carpeting plants. Its lush foliage not only enhances the visual appeal of the aquarium but also creates a sense of depth.

The growth rate is average and will not take over quickly; it can grow up to 10cm but can easily be kept much smaller.

How to Use Staurogyne repens

S. repens is best used in the front area behind your lower-growing carpeting species, but it could also be used as a carpeting plant if you prefer a large leaf. We have grown this plant with and without Co2.

Plant Maintenance

Treat this aquarium plant as a small stem, simply cut and replant to keep a healthy, compact look. Trim the longest leaves away, horizontal shoots will creep and spread in the substrate; in lower light conditions, this will happen less and will grow more upright.

Growing Emersed

Staurogyne repens can grow out of the water, however will take some time to transition. This plant can also produce small white flowers when it is Emersed.
