This delicately-leaved Rotala known as wallichii 'Long Leaf' it bears a resemblance to Rotala sp. 'Nanjenshan' and may not actually belong to the Rotala wallichii species.
Submerged leaves are linear, up to 1 mm wide and 1.5–3 cm long, tapering slightly toward the tip, with the upper side ranging from light to medium green, yellowish, or brownish-red, and the underside showing pink. The stem is green and about 1.5 mm thick.
How to use Rotala wallichii 'Long Leaf'
Rotala sp. "Long Leaf" looks its best when planted in larger groups in the midground or background of medium to large aquariums. It contributes additional texture and color to a tank's variety of fine-leaved Rotalas.
Plant Maintenance
Similar to Rotala wallichii, the "Long Leaf" variety thrives in soft water with bright lighting, CO2 supplementation, and consistent fertilisation with both macro and micronutrients. The most intense reddish coloration in the leaves is achieved under strong lighting. This plant grows quickly under optimal conditions and, like other stem plants, can be easily propagated by cuttings.
Emersed Growth
This plant exhibits differences in its submerged form, such as a darker, more reddish hue and an upright growth habit, which sets it apart from R. sp. "Nanjenshan." The shoots typically reach up to 5 cm in width. When grown emersed, the leaves become coarser, broader, and light green.
