ADA Rotala Macrandra
Rotala macrandra is a vibrant red aquarium plant, suitable for use in the background of your aquascape. It could also be used in the midground in large aquariums.
Rotala macrandra is known to be a more difficult plant to keep due to it's demand for lighting, CO2 and rich nutrition. Given the correct conditions it can flourish and grow quickly.
The colour of the leaves can vary from a vibrant red or pink hue, especially under high light conditions or in optimal growth environments. The stems are thin and upright, capable of growing quite tall, reaching heights of up 30cm+ if not trimmed. Rotala macrandra tends to have a bushy growth habit and can branch out when pruned regularly, resulting in a fuller look.
How to Use Rotala macrandra
Rotala macrandra is perfect for a pop of colour in the background of your aquarium, it also is a fantastic addition to dutch style layouts.
Plant Maintenance
Being a stem plant you will need to trim this as it becomes to tall for your aquascape. We recommend cutting back and leaving it with around 2-3 inches of healthy plant, this gives you a long cutting to re-plant.
Growing emersed
Rotala Macrandra can grow out of the water but will need a high humidity area, we recommend planting just below water level and allow new growth to immerse itself.
