ADA Hygrophila lancea chai 'Narrow leaf'

Hygrophila lancea Chai Narrow Leaf is a unique aquatic plant known for its striking appearance and distinct growth habits. Underwater, it develops long, reddish-brown leaves with a lighter-coloured central vein.

How to use Hygrophila lancea chai 'Narrow leaf'

It can be used the same as how you would use the more commonly found 'Lancea Araguaia, usually in the foreground to add pops of colour or focal points. The plant's stems have a creeping growth habit and form compact, low bushes that thrive with a strong CO2 supply and intense lighting.

Plant Maintenance

Unlike most other Hygrophila species, the Araguaia variety grows slowly, which makes regular trimming essential to maintain its bushy and tidy form.  Ideal for experienced aquarists, Hygrophila lancea "Araguaia" requires high light intensity and a nutrient-rich environment to thrive in an aquatic setting.

Key Information

  • Bushy, low growth
  • Striking pinky colour

Emersed Growth

Typically sold in its emerged form, it undergoes a transformation once submerged, displaying a dramatic shift in appearance that sets it apart from its terrestrial counterpart. Hygrophila is great for emersed setups such as Wabi-Kusa.
