ADA Eleocharis acicularis
Eleocharis acicularis is an incredibly adaptable aquatic plant that can thrive in a wide range of aquarium conditions. However, for optimal growth, it prefers an open area with plenty of light and minimal shade from other plants.
As the plant establishes itself, its roots will start to colonise the surrounding environment, creating a light and delicate carpet that can reach heights of 15cm or more.

How to use Eleocharis acicularis
E. acicularis is versatile and can be utilised in various parts of the aquarium, not just limited to the background. When placed alongside large rocks in an iwagumi layout, it imparts a timeless, natural appearance, as if the stones have been weathered over time with grass growing around them. Additionally, its delicate texture contributes to a sense of depth within the aquascape.
Plant Maintenance
To maintain a desired appearance, you can simply trim back the carpet to the desired height, some strands may die back as eleocharis species are usually quite sensitive to trimming however the plant will grow back.
Emersed Growth
Eleocharis acicularis can be grown emersed in paludariums and Wabi-Kusa setups and is fairly easy to do, just ensure it is kept humid in the early stages.
