Hemianthus callitrichoides, also known as "dwarf baby tears," is an incredibly small and popular aquarium plant.
Apperance
It features millimeter-sized, round leaves and is often used as a foreground plant in small aquariums. It is a great alternative to Monte Carlo if you prefer a smaller leaf size.
Lighting and Fertilization
While not overly difficult to care for, this plant thrives in optimal conditions, including sufficient light, CO2 supplementation, water circulation, and regular fertilization. If creating these conditions is challenging, consider using Micranthemum 'Monte-Carlo' as a less demanding alternative.
When planted in small clumps a few centimeters apart, this plant spreads rapidly to create a carpet-like effect. Regular trimming is essential to prevent lower parts of the carpet from experiencing root death due to insufficient light.
